  Evidence: FHIT overexpression disrupted mitochondrial membrane integrity and activated multiple pro-apoptotic proteins in NSCLC cell. The activation of caspase 3, caspase 8, caspase 9 and PARP is indicated by detected cleavage of these proteins. FHIT overexpression also activated the apoptosis initiator BID in A549 cells
